This past weekend Jeff and I took a little break from reality and headed out of SLC. We rewarded ourselves with some camping gear to celebrate our first year of marriage. (scored big on craigslist!) We spent Saturday exploring Bryce Canyon. We got back to camp, took a nap (so out of shape), made some delicious campfire meals, and reminisced on our highs and lows of the past year together. (We also got in trouble by the forest ranger for gathering sticks for our fire (yikes.))
Since we spent our monies on a joint gift, we thought we would keep it simple with personalized presents to one another. We are going to see how the Traditional Anniversary Gift giving goes--First Year is Paper, so I made Jeff a paper account of our emails we sent back and forth when we first started dating and Jeff made me a book of poems from experiences from this past year. I have never laughed so hard- that boy of mine is witty.
“By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.” ― Socrates
-- I'm surprised that Jeff hasn't announced that he's becoming a philosopher yet. Marriage is not like I thought it would be. It's a lot harder, but so much better than I have ever imagined. I'm trying to be that good wife that Jeff deserves and be a little less selfish more a lot more communicative.
